Hello all,

This is a place for all of us and all of you to meet one another and get a long so that we may all become The Best of Friends™.

See, there's only a handful of us in this tiny and pathetic man-cage office and so we occasionally experience mild attacks of cabin fever. However, by telling us all about yourselves and thereby PROVING that you are far more than internet porn-bots, maybe, little by little, we will remember what it is to be...

human.

As one of the aforementioned

As one of the aforementioned handful I have been goaded into providing the first introduction.

I was hired in January to program our first game, which has after a great deal of changes has metamorphosed into Plain Sight.

I bizarrely decided I would like to write an engine from scratch in a year on my own. After a couple of months I changed my mind and convinced Robin and Damien it would be a good idea to get Alex in (the demanding one who started this thread) to prevent my untimely death.

That's all for now, I must return to the programming.

Hi Christian

Great to have you on board!

We'd love to be on XBLA, but there's also the new ‘community games’’ initiative that looks awesome. We'll have to find out which is best suited for us!

Anyway, In Novemeber you'll be able to play the PC version - this is the port we're currently working on the most...

Cheers
Robin

PS: Afraid I had to change you animated gif to a static one (for some reason it was crazy and huge) - sorry!

Introduce Yourself!... It Is Demanded

Hello,

I'm an Emergency Room Nurse here in America. I play video games with my boys (college age through junior high) on our P.C.s and Xbox's. We don't have high speed internet out here in the country so we play each other through LAN.

Could anyone at the Beatnik office tell me if there will be any A.I. bots in the P.C. version of your game. If not, will there be offline multi-player through system-link for the Xbox 360?

The video looks great and really helps to explain the game play basics.

Thanks,

Keeshondown

Oy! from Miami, FL

Hey Beatnik Gamers, I'm Demetrious. ^^

Damn, didn't think much further than that... oh! Wait, yeah . . .

I'm a marketing associate with a small firm in Miami, as well as an aspiring writer willing to write almost anything. Heard about the game via Kotaku and I must say I'm impressed. I'm looking forward to the beta and some interesting matches based on the premises of high-flying robots with swords that have to blow themselves up on the sole purpose to do it all over again. Ha! Good times...

Friends: I Enjoy You!

wooooo, look at all these lovely shiny new people to play with! Thanks for satisfying my idle whimsy and opening up your personal lives to my demanding scrutiny. I hope you'll all stick around for the foreseeable future.

Keeshondown: Thanks for the questions, they allow us to clarify our game ever more... clearly. I've updated the FAQ to take them into account, but basic gist is that there will be no A.I. bots but you will be able to play the PC version over LAN as well as the Internet. As for the 360 system link, well, it's certainly something we'd like to do, but as we're not focusing on that port yet and so can't speak authoritatively.

Greetings

Hey Hey... I didn't really happen to find my way by some kind of chance or led by another website, but my good ole friend Alex.. (Alex Best, that is) .. Who was working on some games at Beatnik.. Anyways I usually use the alias (pseudonym? ) EliXiR, but you can call me Luke.. I'm extremely interested in Independant Video Games and plan to follow your company very closely.. I too am trying my best to get into Independand Game development with my sounds and music and also I have designed a few short episodic RPG games for my friends influenced by my own personnal life, I understand how important these projects are and that you've put your heart and soul into all that you have created, like Video Games used to be like before the PS2, XBOX era :[ . Commercial and Retail Video Games dont really do it for me anymore, not like they used to :[ which is why i have turned my back on the console ( unless its Metal Gear or Resident Evil) and opened my arms to the wonderful world of Indie Games.. I look forward to your realease of 'Plain Sight' (psst, spare us a beta key? :/) and give my full support.

Thank You and Goodnight.

Greetings folks, Pie21 here, from tf2strategy.com if you're interested. I too stumbled across Plain Sight through RPS, so a big thanks to them for introducing me to this breath of fresh air. If this turns out to be anything like what I see it as becoming, it gets my buy instantly.

I don't know how many Australians there are around here - hopefully I get to be the first! Also what's the deal with the beta testing? I can't find any information on it except that I can apply.

Cheers fellas, and keep it up!

how rude!

I haven't introduced myself yet – how rude!

My name is Robin; however, as that’s my username, you don’t really need to be Nostradamus to work that out...

I’m the producer here at Beatnik Games. As we don’t really do job titles here, ‘producer’ simply means ‘everything that isn’t programming or art’

Feel free to hit me with any questions you may have about Plain Sight or Beatnik Games – I’m never too far away from the site and will always do my best to get back to you asap..

I would have said "Hello all," but Alex did that already.
I'm Leausm, or Levi, whichever. I'm not a programmer, and I'm not even sure if my lil' old laptop will play Plain Sight, but I'm desperately hoping it will. If I'm not on my lappy or doing homework, I can be found reading and listening to music. That's about it...

i've made an apprenticeship as programmer, but i wont stick to that.
so this winter I will go working in davos (I'm from switzerland).
In my free time i'm alway keen on some new games to try out. i don't really like all those mainstream games, because my laptop is rather antique (3years by now) and they normally bring at most technical innovation.
Furthermore i like reading, listening to music, going out, all the normal stuff one does.

Greetings and such

Hello everyone, I'm... Frankly a quite surprised that there's so little impatient flooding here on this forum. Not that that's a bad thing, but I anticipated having to rifle through tons of barely comprehensible posts along the lines of "GIEV ME AL MAH POINTS NAO!!!" and "LET ME PLAY THING SPANKINGLY AWSUM GAME!!!!!11!1!1!!1!one", which I am sure represents the feelings of the majority of people who have stumbled upon this wonderful project, but fortunately people seem to be moderating themselves quite satisfactory.

Anyhow, I'm just a swedish gamer that found my way here... Can't even remember how, it was a long and tired night. I am extremely glad that I did though, this project looks like it has potential to be since swords, or even sentient, point-craving robots were invented!

I feel I can't praise your concept or your designs enough, but praise they deserve!

I'm truly looking forward to playing Plain Sight, and I'm already itching to get my points!!

I'm Cipher and I'm all the way from South Africa .Saw the game on RockPaperShotgun and thought I'd have to take a look. I am currently working for Software company here in SA and have been dabbling in XNA, but I do not have the time always to get immersed in it!

Hi there!

I'm a 29 year old programmer and I wish that someday I'll have the guts like you guys to start doing games for $$$! This has always been my dream, but no opportunity for that (yet) where I live..
I came closest to this when I was an alpha tester for Guild Wars for three years...

Anyway, the concept for the game sounds great and I'd especially like to play that on a LAN, I can imagine how fun it would be Smiling

I really enjoyed playing this game at the Expo, and, to be brutally honest, it was the only game I enjoyed playing as there were too many sweaty teenagers hogging the games machines downstairs.

Emerald here

Hello there, I heard of Plain Sight I think via Guardian Gamesblog, but I might be wrong and I may have heard the news via one of the other news sources i subscribe to. hmmm.

I played your build at the Indie Games Arcade and felt it compared favourably to some of the games downstairs in being much more immediate pick-up-and-play. Unlike eg. Tomb Raider where I had to spend minutes and minutes working out controls and what something I can grab looks like. Plain Sight and three-button gaming are good things!

I have this strange compulsion to introduce myself

Hi, met you guys at EGX and played the game. My friend and I both liked it a lot, excellent manic fun. Apart from Fallout 3 it's probably the game we spent the most time on... oh and except maybe the PS3 demo build of HAWX, but that's probably because it took over two minutes to load a menu (a menu!) and about 5 minutes to load a level.

Never gave you any feedback there and then so I look forward to giving you my thoughts.

Must... introduce... self..

Well here i am introducing myself,Met you guys at EGX like several other people i was hooked, the style of the game was nice and the simplicity of the character was greatly interesting to me, I spoke to you briefly about my dissertation on game avatars and then suggested a few interesting things for the game engine (Primarily the ability to change track ect ect), you most likely dont actually remember me at all (id be suprised if you did though) but it was great to be able to speak to a developer about their game and the XNA studio on the same level, many designers talk down to the public but you were friendly and casual and that was awsome.

Hey, I signed up just to let Plainsight fans know I did a little comic for the game up on my website www.dark-matter-comics.com (this is not false advertising, it's there and it links back to here). I just thought plainsight fans might enjoy it; I drew it for a competition me and a friend of mine are entering. A Canadian lost in Scotland!

Canadian, female, writer and gamer, seriously! Not only that I am older than 30, but younger than 50 and I even own and run my own games news sites. In the past I have also worked in the on-line games industry, probably for far too long in fact lol

Heard about this game through the usual press sources, and posted the latest press release from you guys on my site.

Wishing you folks all the best of luck on this title, it looks like a lot of fun already!
